Behind The Meaning | The Crown Chakra
So what is the Crown Chakra? Energy healer Georgia Coleridge shares her knowledge with us on the Crown Chakra, the symptoms of an unbalanced one and how to balance it.
Where is the Crown Chakra?
This is the highest of the seven chakras. It is also the lightest and most spiritual. This inspiring energy centre is on the top of your head, pointing upwards, rather like the shining halo of light around the head of saints. This chakra is linked with a beautiful, ethereal violet-white colour.
What does the Crown Chakra do?
This chakra is all about spiritual connection and transformation. It lifts and inspires you, connecting you to the divine (you might call this angelic energy, the Source, or God.) This chakra also gives you a sense of your own divinity, the awareness that you are a soul in a human body.
So how do you feel when the Crown Chakra is strong?
The energy around it feels very clean and clear, like mountain air. You might feel a deep sense of trust that you are connected, and that the universe is looking after you. You might feel a benign detachment, as though you can rise above your earthly problems. You might also feel a sense of euphoria, wonderment and calm.
What if the Crown Chakra is weak?
When your crown chakra isn’t shining, you can feel disconnected from your spirituality, and nothing much inspires you. You might think spiritual people are a bit odd or deluded, and congratulate yourself for being in the real world. If your lower chakras are also highly developed, then making money, having sex and buying stuff may be enough for you. But without the crown chakra energy, to lift you beyond ordinary existence, your life can also feel a bit flat and meaningless.
Can the Crown Chakra be too strong?
If you’ve got too much energy flowing through your crown chakra, then phrases like space cadet and airhead, can apply to you! Particularly if you aren’t rooted and grounded by your other chakras. This can happen if you spend a lot of time thinking, but don’t take care of your physical body. Or if you are sensitive and easily hurt, and find it easier to stay up in your head, then engage with the messy business of being human.
How can you deal and balance the Crown Chakra?
Every time you see luminous, shining violet-white colour or a shaft of light, it’s a reminder of your crown chakra and how important it is. This chakra responds very well to meditation. Try different methods, perhaps using an app, until you find one that suits you. You might count your breaths, say a mantra, walk mindfully, gaze at a candle, or just spend five minutes blissing out at the end of your yoga class. Art and music can inspire this chakra. So can nature. Visit a gothic cathedral that draws your eyes upward, or lie down in the park and look up at the sky and the branches of a big tree.
Could a Crown Chakra bracelet help?
This chakra is represented by a many-petalled lotus flower. Every time you see this intricate symbol glinting on your wrist, it’s a reminder of abundant spiritual energy.
The Crown Chakra symbol would be a good present for...
Your beautiful friend, who loves you like a guardian angel. For anyone who is feeling low and needs inspiration. For yourself, because who knows where your spiritual journey will take you?
