Hi Tori, how and why did you get into Holistic Health coaching?
I got into it when I arrived back from travelling in Australia at the beginning of 2015. The reason being because when I asked myself exactly what it was I wanted from the year ahead, my answer was to get myself to a position of health, happiness and strength in every sense; at the time I was struggling with these whilst dealing with a handful of family problems.
I enrolled onto an online Holistic Health coaching course at The Institute of Integrative Nutrition; I was totally hooked and beyond interested in the theories they taught us. This is where TBalance was born… when I realised that actually being ‘totally hooked’ wasn’t such a great idea: it’s all about balance!
Our current campaign is called ‘Love to Love’, what does self love mean to you and what are your top tips to help others find self love too?
I love this campaign! I think that the ever growing awareness of self love is so key. I speak to my clients, my friends, my family etc about this a lot of the time. I think it’s often a really hard concept to get a hold of, especially when the individual is lacking in it.
I think it’s important to firstly know that it has to come from within you; when you love who you are, your relationships will be healthier and your life will be happier. Self love sets the standard in how we allow others to treat us and how we treat ourselves.
If we get our self-esteem from appearance, success, financial situations, relationships etc… we will be disappointed because no one can guarantee that we’ll have these things tomorrow. So it has to be about falling in love with yourself; finding the things that truly make you tick within.
My top tips include:
1.Taking some time to yourself to tap into what makes you tick. Think about the things that you really enjoy doing alone and then do more of them! It’s so important to find and beyond satisfying when you get there.
2.Gratitude. For all those who are struggling to find goodness in your lives or a specific situation, this is the one for you! Write down everything you are thankful for, get it on paper so you can visualise it all. Write anything from the roof over your head to the food you just ate or the time you last laughed, to the good nights sleep you had. By being grateful and aware you create an aura of love around you and are then able to draw more goodness into your life. The more you then do this combined with the above solo-activities, you will most likely then start adding these to your gratitude list and begin to fall in love with yourself.
3.Say ‘no’ – (this has been huge for me) saying no to the things that you don’t want to do is so liberating; it makes you enjoy your life more and you will end up eliminating the people-pleaser in you!
4.Remember your self care: sleep, nourish your body with the right foods, salt scrub twice a week and have a bath when your body is craving it. 5. Be still, breathe. Loving yourself isn’t conceit, it’s love…which means acceptance, kindness, encouragement and care; it’s not thinking you’re better than others. But this love will help diffuse doubt and therefore the individuals fears and self hate will fade. When you have cracked self love, you’re well on your way to a better life!
